23 Months and nearly 42 Weeks

Yes... we are STILL waiting on Fig!

This past weekend, we got in some more work time in the bathroom upstairs.  Ezri was full of help this time around, especially interested in helping Daddy finish hanging the drywall and marking it up for him.  She spent a considerable amount of time walking around the room writing on the walls with her pencil... fine for that room, just hopefully not something she decides to do in other rooms in the house :)  She even got herself all geared up with protection...

We have nearly completed hanging drywall, with just a few small spots to cover yet in the doorway.  The next step is to complete the plumbing that has already been started and get mud up on the seams.  We are making progress and it looks much more like a room now.

We spent most of the week laying low and hoping for a baby.  Ezri wanted to continually "go working".  Seeing Daddy work upstairs on the computer, she now tries to get up to his office or on the laptop to push buttons, write notes and talk on the phone.  Our little industrious sponge...

She also learned a trick from Daddy this week.  For several days we could only get her to eat peanut butter on toast for lunch or dinner.  One day, Daddy gave her some peanut butter on a spoon and that started a whole new game of wanting to only eat peanut butter off her plate with a spoon.  Thankfully, she seems to have forgotten that little trick for now...

Thursday Ezri turned 23 months.  Of course, this would be the day she would get a cold and not feel very cooperative...  So hard to believe we have an almost 2 year old in the house - she is growing so fast!

While our play time together is more difficult as of late as it is much harder for this Mommy to get down on the floor, Ezri has been busy playing and learning.  This week she took an extra interest in my old Fisher Price barn, little people, tractor and animals.  The fun for her was to take all the pieces out and then cram as many as she could into the lower barn, then into the silo or the hay mow.  She got lost in that toy for great lengths of time several times a day this week :)

We continue to anticipate Fig's soon arrival and are praying for a safe delivery and healthy baby and appreciate the continued support from our friends as we wait.  Who would have guessed baby #2 would be even later and just as stubborn as baby #1?...

Fun with "No-man"

Yes... We are still waiting for Fig...

We've had another week of quiet home time for the most part.  The weather has changed a few times, bringing us snow, rain, melting, freezing and more snow.  Ezri is all about the "no-man" (she calls snow on the ground snowman) and has enjoyed playing in it a few different times...

Saturday, while waiting and hoping Fig might decide to arrive as it was the due date, Alex, worked away at the bathroom upstairs with some help from Ezri and myself.  We made quite a bit of progress, hanging more drywall on the side and back walls  A few shots of the room prior to our work on Saturday...

Sunday, though it was chilly outside, Alex took Ezri for a few spins around the yard on her sled.  As this Mommy's winter coat comes nowhere near zipping anymore and snow pants fitting are a joke, we let Daddy do the work :)  Ezri thoroughly enjoyed herself!

Monday we got a brief break from the waiting and got to spend some time with Dawn and Kenny.  Ezri enjoyed being around the baby and was curious about everything he does from toys to feeding to diaper changes.  I will surely have a good little helper on my hands :)  Tuesday we went in for our 40+ week Dr. appointment and listened to the baby's heart again.  Tiring quickly of the waiting game, we are anxious for Fig to get a move on.  The eviction notice has been posted but apparently we are going to be blessed with another stubborn and strong willed child.  At almost a week past due date now, this is all to familiar territory we along with everyone else thought we'd surely not visit again with baby #2.

Ezri keeps me busy in the mornings and during nap times, I've gotten a lot of reading done :)  Ezri is quite the little helper and we've gotten more cleaning done among other things, like organize and clean out the recipe box.  We have also spent a few mornings together watching Daddy clear the driveway with the snow blower.  This is loads of fun for Ezri, who posts herself on a chair in front of the dining room window and watches Daddy go back and forth, commentating on the snow, Daddy anything else she sees :)

Living one day at a time and enjoying the sunshine that Ezri floods the house with...

Just Hanging Out

Thankfully, we had another laid back and fairly quiet week here :)  The calm before the storm...

It has been a week of very mixed weather, starting cool, becoming quite pleasant and warm mid week and ending with a snow storm last night into today.  Tuesday and Wednesday were so nice we headed outside for some walks together and enjoyed the sunshine and warmth in the high 40's and even 50 degrees.  Ezri loved being able to get back outside to play!

On the not so warm days early in the week, we kept busy playing and nesting.  I believe I've cleaned about all I can at this point and now we're to the waiting game.  Our 39 week Dr. visit on Wednesday went as all of the others... "How do you feel?' (me: fine)...  "See you in a week."  So, unless baby decides to get a move on, we wait some more.  Ezri has really enjoyed going with us to the Dr. to hear the baby's heart and will talk about it often.  Thought not fully aware of the idea of baby Fig, she is all about hugging and kissing Mommy's belly and loves playing with her baby.  Very interested in babies, she was all about seeing Kenny this past weekend and getting up close and personal with him, watching and talking to and about him.  She'll do great as a big sister!

We spent Monday evening helping Grandpa and Grandma finish up some work in Great Grandma's kitchen.  We also got in some time in the bathroom upstairs in our house, putting up some more insulation and figuring out electrical and plumbing before moving forward with completing insulation so we can drywall.  Alex dug out a bag of Star Trek models one night and he and Ezri had a great time checking those out together...

Hoping for our chance to meet Baby Fig sometime soon, soaking up the solo Ezri time while we can, and praising God for all of the many blessings along the way...

Happy New Year

So hard to believe we have passed through another year and now find ourselves in 2012!  So many wonderful things have happened in the past year, and we know so many more are bound to come in the next year.  We have truly been so blessed!

We finished out this year with Ezri turning 22 Months...

This past Saturday, New Years Eve, we spent some time at Great Grandma's house finishing up the flooring project and helping to clean some more.  In the evening, we spent a quiet night celebrating the completion of 2011 and the coming of 2012 with Andy.  It was relaxing... we watched a movie, played some Wii and just hung out.    Sunday, we did more of the same after church. 

Monday brought us some lake effect snow and an itch in Alex our friend Mark to get the trucks out and go driving through the Allegan forest for some time in the morning.  Ezri and I joined in the trip along with Mark's children.  Ezri really seemed to enjoy bouncing around in the truck :)  We also spent part of Monday finishing up the moving process, getting Ezri's crib and some other things into her new room for the transition.  Ezri thought the crib was much more fun without a mattress... suddenly it was a great house to play in!

Ezri is really excited about her new room and seems to have transitioned really well.  She took her first nap in there Monday afternoon and slept great... has been sleeping great in there ever since.  She things the big bed is for jumping at this point, but also for Daddy and Mommy to "go sleeping" on her command so she can jump on us too :)  Ezri also loves the new video monitor we got for the room.  It zooms and pans the room and has a talk back feature, so we can talk to her through the monitor without going in the room.  She thinks it's pretty great!

We're so grateful Ezri is making this transition so well.  Wednesday, we again headed to the Dr. for our 38 week check up.  Once again, same story.  Baby is just hanging out and we're all ready and waiting...

One of our final moves was to change car seat positions in the truck to add the infant seat.  But...  the truck is not designed for multiple seats apparently, and we've found that with Ezri needing to now face forward in order for her seat to fit that there is not room for her behind driver or passenger seat, nor is there room for the infant seat in either of these places... they both only fit in the center. :(  So, we've got them squeezed into the car for now.  Just in time for winter and no 4 wheel drive if we have both kids... sigh.  Gratefully, the seats both fit in the car with the infant seat in the center and Ezri facing forward behind the passenger seat.  Possibly time to start considering a different vehicle in the future...  For now, we'll make it work.  Ezri has yet to ride in the car with her seat facing forward.  We shall see how that goes very soon, though I am sure she will do just fine.

We've enjoyed a nice quiet week here at home, with things getting back into a rhythm.   Alex has been working a few hours here and there during the evening in the bathroom upstairs.  We've got some insulation on the ceiling and a few sheets of drywall.  After re-building the doorway to fit his height, we're back to adding more insulation to ceiling and walls as well as drywall.  A little at a time, we are getting there.  Unfortunately, Ezri has picked up a cold somewhere along the way and is a little miserable, but she continues to forge ahead with as much steam as she can find and I'm still running the house chasing her from the nursery to her room to the living room and all around the house :)  

With a few days of sun this week, we've all been soaking up the warmth in the living room.  Thursday, while I was folding laundry, Tobi helped himself to Ezri's hamper.  When Ezri saw this, she crawled right in to join him and the giggles flooded the room :)

Ezri has taken a liking to Curious George over the past few weeks, so this week we've watched a few during some fussy times.  Not a big fan of parking my kid in front of the TV, the energy for this Mommy is lacking and we're all happier this way.  As we wait on Fig, we are soaking up the moments alone with Ezri and trying to enjoy the "calm", anxiously awaiting the time we can meet Fig :)
