New Things to See and Do

There was a lot going on for us again this past week.  We started it off with a little road construction excitement.  Monday morning, the crew began tearing up the road in front of our house.  The kids had a great time watching until it was time for us to leave for an appointment.

 When we returned from our appointment, the kids rushed right back out to see more work happening.  We took advantage of the beautiful weather and moved school outside to the trampoline so they could watch while they worked.

 Tuesday the work continued, this time they re-paved the road in front of our house.

Alora and I had to leave for a bit so she could have a couple of cavities filled.  She did great!

 When we returned, there was more watching of road work mixed with school.  We made a really fun discovery that afternoon - a little tree toad was hanging out on our fence enjoying some sun.  So, we checked him out, of course!

 The girls especially enjoyed his sticky toes and the way he could hang on.  He was spotted there a few different days this past week, so maybe he will be a continuous visitor to our yard this year. 

Wednesday evening, we took a trip to Menards to get some supplies for a few projects around the yard, including grass seed to patch all the dirt patches from last year's construction and new boards to repair half of the clothesline posts.  On our way home, we caught a rainbow!

Thursday and Friday were our usual.  Saturday found us heading out the door mid-morning to meet our friends and head East to Midland, MI.  There we went to the Whiting Forest at Dow Gardens to check out the canopy walk and have some fun in nature before a roller derby game that night.  The canopy walk was pretty cool!

 We had a lot of fun exploring the trails on the ground too!

After some dinner, we went to watch Kathy along with the rest of the Lakeshore team play Chemical City.  This was the first game we could attend for the 2019 season, so we stepped up our game and added some fun signs to our custom t-shirts and surprised Kathy once again. 

 Each of the kids made their own sign...

 And this Mommy had some fun with sign making too!

 As Kathy's derby name is "Wild Kat", we learned last year for our shirts that a group of wildcats is called a destruction.  I had some fun with that!

Alex made his contribution to the signs as well.

The kids did great for the first half of the game...

At half time, the kids were invited to play a game, they had a good time and had us all giggling, especially Elam!

 

It was a huge win for Lakeshore this game!  At the conclusion of the game, they all raced out to high 5 the players as they came around

Then the Destruction found Wild Kat for a picture!

It was a long, quiet ride home as it was after 9 before we hid the road to head back.  The kids slept a lot of the way.  We were a bit annoyed to pull in to the driveway and find snow!!!

Winter making one last attempt, but thankfully it was only for a short time.
