Much of our week was as usual - life and school mixed with a few days off for nicer weather since we only half did spring break the week before.
The girls had some fun playing outside, even when it did rain.
Wednesday, we had a visit to our doctor for the girls' wellness check-ups. As expected, they are all healthy and growing well. After our visit, we went to Great Grandma's to help her fill eggs with candy and money. It was nice to spend some time at her house again, playing and helping. It's been quite a while!
Leading up to Easter, we colored eggs. The girls were glad to share with their friends Travis and Emmett and they all worked hard on decorating them carefully.
The adults got a special treat when the bigger kids set up an egg hunt for us using pine cones. Each child chose an adult and then took that adult to their area where they had hidden their "eggs" and we then got to gather them up. It was so cute!
Follow that up with some trampoline fun...
While all of that was going on, Tierney was tickled to have the bathtub to herself for a stretch and happily played.
Friday night, we went to our Good Friday service at church. It got a bit sketchy toward the end when the kids were all tired and ready to be done, but they did really well all things considered. On Saturday, we returned to Great Grandma's to help her color eggs for Easter lunch the next days. The girls had a great time mixing colors and creating bright colors.
Then, we went to an egg hunt in Burnips with friends. The girls had a great time playing on the bounce houses before the hunt began.
Then, we split up so the kids could do their egg hunt by age group. Tierney got to start first...
I guess we should have practiced with her, because when it was time to start, she picked one up and then stood there watching the chaos around her. twice I encouraged her to get another, and each time she did the same thing. In the end, she got three eggs. but she was quite happy anyway.
The bigger girls, however, knew exactly what to do and wasted no time when it was their turn and filled their buckets.
They all were sweet and shared some candy with Tierney without even being asked to.
Following the egg hunt, we had lunch together at the park as well. Through it all, Elam was either sleeping or happily watching the commotion from his stroller.
Sunday morning, the girls woke excited when they noticed eggs hidden all around. We started with allowing them to check out their Easter baskets...
Then we turned them loose to find all of the hidden eggs in the house.
Then it was time to get ready for church! Cue the adorable new outfits. Elam was not so thrilled with the proceedings, but he was so stinking cute anyway!
As were the girls in their matching dresses.
After a short nap, Elam felt a little happier, so we got a few pictures of the kids together too.
Then it was off to church.
Before service, there was another egg hunt for the kids.
After church, we headed to Great Grandma's house for Easter lunch with many aunts, uncles and cousins. It was lightly raining for a while, so we all packed (almost 50 of us!) into Great Grandma's house wherever we could. This meant a picnic lunch for the kids, which was just fine with them!
And then, it was time for the big farm egg hunt, just as the weather cleared up. Over the whole farm, over 200 eggs were hidden.
We even managed to sneak in a few family pictures...
It was a busy weekend, but we had lots of opportunity to talk with the girls about the reason for the holiday. There was play with the Easter garden at home, 12 days of opening resurrection eggs and discussing the significance of each item discovered, Bible stories that were read and more. It was so interesting to hear the questions they came up with and listen to them in their pretend play as often those things would pop up.
