Winter Fun!: Coronavirus Week 49

 Last week's activity was largely centered around the snow.  With the cold snap lifted, and plenty of extra new snow, the kid were all excited to get in some play and sledding. The excitement is higher on Mondays and Thursdays because Jamesen has virtual school those days and can join them for an afternoon of fun and play together!  Word has come this week that, because the district is returning to full time instruction, he will not be able to play nearly so much in the future weeks, except for a short time after school, so the kids are soaking up the extra hours of their almost-brother friend.

To add to their fun, late in the week their dolls each got some snow gear to join in the fun!

Saturday afternoon, Daddy and I joined the kids on a beautiful, sunny winter day for a couple hours of sledding on their hill.  We had a lot of laughs and fun together.  With warm weather predicted for the coming week and more, it looks like these snowy days may be leaving us soon.

Valentines Winter Adventure: Coronavirus Week 48

 Last week we did a lot of our usual - school, work, visit to Great Grandma... but Friday brought some excitement and fun to our slow winter routine - a trip to the cabin!!!  We headed out Friday afternoon, caught up with Sebrights and had very clean and smooth sailing all the way, making great time.  We got settled in and while we watited for Poldermans to join us, the kids headed outside to enjoy the snow!

Saturday was a day filled with trips in and out.  It was very cold, unfortunately, so our time outside was in spurts, but for a couple of hours in the afternoon we all braved the weather to enjoy some snow fun.  The kids had a blast on the hill, made much bigger thanks to some plowing the week prior.

They also made good use of some snow banks, turning them into forts.

We gave sledding down the hill on the road a shot, but with the temps so low, the snow was not packing or slippery, so it didn't go so well.  We watched as the kids tried for a bit before moving on to a new idea...

Sledding behind the truck!  The kids had such fun doing this again.  They fell off a lot less because it wasn't as slippery, but sure did their best to knock eachother off the rope and had a blast the whole time.

We enjoyed warm soup that evening and hours of laughter over games Friday and Saturday nights while the kids watched their movie and slept.  Sunday, nobody was too excited to leave just yet, so we stretched it into some more snow for the kids, lunch, more games, and some cleaning that had been neglected for many years.

Finally, it was time to pack up mid afternoon and head back for home.  We arrived home after stopping for dinner and, once unloaded, sat down to exchange Valentines as it was Valentine's Day!
