March is rolling by quickly!
So far this month, we have had very little snow, and the kids have been riding their scooters and bikes many days.
One Wednesday night, the kids and I attended a volunteer appreication night at our church, where there were games and prizes. Ezri played a round of Family Feud with other volunteers from the children's ministry, competing against volunteers from the youth group leadership. For participating, she got to choose a game to bring home.
Alora played a game with other kids where she had to guess the color of the soda based on the flavor. She came in second and chose a hat for her prize.
A couple of weeks ago, Ezri got her ears pierced! It was what she wanted to do upon turning 13, so we made an appointment with a tattoo/piercing place in Grand Rapids called Honest To Goodness and we were so impressed! From start to finish, it was clean, the staff was amazing, the procedure was thorough and the results were just what we hoped for. Best of all, Ezri said it didn't even hardly hurt!
We have had some fun watchign the birds this winter, and the squirrels as well. One day, we had a woodpecker trapped in the garage and I was able to catch it in my hands long enough to get it out and set it free.
We also love watching a particularly brave squirrel who comes very close to the house to eat bird seed and corn we leave out for him. It is really fun to see his antics.
The cuteness continues in the house, where one night I found that Elam had fallen asleep in my bed before I could get to him to tuck him in. Before he fell asleep, he had written me a note on his tablet telling me he loved me!
We also got out of the house and went roller skating one afternoon, taking Bristol with us. The kids had a great time skating and loved having Bristol along, taking turns helping her skate around the floor.
We did manage to get a heavy snowfall one weekend, which looked beautiful with all of the trees so heavily covered. Unfortunately, 2 days later it was completely gone again.
I was able to participate in a mom night with my MOPS group a couple weeks ago where we ate and then made our own charcuterie boards to bring home. It was a lot of fun and my family enjoyed the board I brought home very much!
We have begun the roller derby season, our first game was on the road in Midland against Chemical City. So, we loaded up, met up with our friends, and made the nearly 3 hour trek out to watch our team play (and win).
We had new shirts made to go with the color change our team had made with their jerseys, and because it was time to update the Destruction's image. After tie dying them at home, we sent them to a derby player to apply the text and images. We got our completed shirts back at the bout and were so happy with how they turned out!
The big windmills were a hit with everyone, we were all so taken in by how many and how huge they were! The ride home, when it was dark and they were all flashing was quite mesmerizing as well!
There was a short sleepover in Mom and Dad's room for a few days while Daddy had a cold, and the kids loved it! They each had their own little sleeping area made up and I often found them up there reading in their little spots or playing together.
We did some bed switching in the past month, and then made some upgrades with shelves, pet nets, etc, and Sadie is loving that Ezri is now on the bottom bunk where she can snuggle up with Ezri while she reads.
We have had several visits to our new orthodontist, who we love very much. We have also made a visit to the eye doctor this month with Tierney, who got a perfect report for vision when we brought her in with a perplexing eye crossing situation.
To wrap up all that has happened in March so far, we invited a couple of friends and their families over one night for a few hours of food and fun. All 10 kids played so great together we barely saw or heard them once they were fed, and the adults shared many laughs with games while the kids had their own fun.
Hard to believe March is half way over already!
