It has been a big week for the Wild Wild Westrates! Last Saturday, late afternoon, we made a trip to the Critter Barn in Zeeland to meet and adopt a new bunny, a 3 month old Mini Rex who was named Wilder. He was quite timid and shy for the first few days at our house, it has taken us some time to get him used to our chaos, way of daily life, sounds, food, water, housing, etc. Thankfully, over the last week, he has slowly warmed to us little by little and we are now able to pet him, he will take treats from us, is eating and drinking much better, coming out of his cage much more, hiding a lot less, and binky regularly. He now goes by the name Wiley, and he is fast becoming a member of the family.
He seems to enjoy Lucky especially, perhaps because he was familiar with the smell of cat being housed a room away in the same barn.
Winter is slowly fading, warmer temps have been melting snow, and the sunshine is finally showing its face more often. Last week, the kids played outisde on scooters several days, and made the best of the snow remaining while dreaming of warmer weather that doesn't require snow suits. On Thursday, they got out the sidewalk chalk and set to decorating our neighbor's driveway, as Pamaw had just lost her father the day before... such sweet kids!
On Saturday, Ezri woke up a 12 year old! The day started with our traditional bow hunt... a much more challenging event for her this year.
We also let Ezri open one gift earlier in the day...
Ezri also got some fun mail from her Pen-Pal, Ashley!
We enjoyed a nice day together around the house, soaking up some sunshine and enjoying a slower pace.
As the day went on, we saw Elam slipping into a sad state of not feeling well, wanting to be wrapped in warm blankets and snuggled, even napping. Some virus made its way into his body and he had a fever by night's end.
Grandpa and Grandma joined us from Florida via Facetime for the gifts and cake!
The shenaigans were aplenty from the other kids that afternoon...
