Just like that, August is gone and September is here
After jumping back into school for a few days, following a long holiday weekend, we interrupted things again with the fair. Wednesday, we dropped off the girls' exhibits and purchased our passes and tickets. Thursday evening, we returned to check Barb in to his week long stay at the Bunny Barn Hotel.
Then we had our traditional dinner out at Pizza Hut where the kids used their Summer Reading passes they earned. There was tangible excitement in the air at our house as we accomplished these things, and went to bed all geared up for the fair to begin!
Friday was the first MOPS meeting of the year, so the kids and I were off and running in the morning. That evening, they were all tired from too many late nights already.
Saturday morning was a catch up kind of day around our house for a few hours, whether that meant work or sleep...
Then we went to the fair in the afternoon to see Barb, who the girls were very much missing already.
We also caught up with Grandpa, Grandma, Aubrey and Wesley, ate some fair food, walked through the exhibit barns and checked out the ribbons the girls won for their exhibits.

A notebook about her rabbit...
A little barn with removable play cow she sewed...
A quilt she made with her machine...
A story she wrote...
Jams she helped me make...
and chocolate zucchini muffins she made...
Alora entered her Cloverbud box full of fun things she made over the year.
We ended our afternoon playing on the tractor and in the village.
We returned to the fair on Sunday with our friends to eat fair food and take in all of the sights and sounds.
The "Farmer For A Day" exhibit was a big hit, as usual...
And the kids all "needed" cowboy hats!
We also watched "The Birdman" and his show, which had the kids very attentive and entertained... well, most of them. Elam was a fidgety little bugger, over tired and with too much energy to burn.
We saw some pretty amazing birds, though!

and then the kids got to donate a dollar, which the Macaw took from them and put in a box... they thought that was pretty cool!
It was a great weekend of the fair with the promise of a whole lot more to come!
