Happy Mother's Day : Coronavirus Week 8

Happy May!  We tiptoed into the month late last week, and forgot all about taking pictures!

 Last weeks big fun was some social distanced play time with the kids and their friend Jamesen in the form of a gang of Power Wheels!  The kids had a great time playing together while observing some distance.

 Around home, it was a lot of usual - at least the new kind of usual.  We went to pick up produce boxes from VanSolkema Farms in Byron Center on Tuesday and Saturday, and each time came home with lots of yummy fruits and vegetables!  Mommy had Zoom meetings with MOPS moms on Tuesday afternoon and Friday morning, a church Zoom meeting Tuesday night, and a small group study via Zoom on Wednesday evening,   The kids began the finaly project stage of school, which marks three weeks left until summer break for West Maple Academy.  This year, Ezri is choosing to study and create presentations and experiments on the Soo Locks, while Alora chose Albert Einstein.  It will surely be interesting to see the final results!

Daddy has been working a lot of long, late hours in the shop.  Most nights the kids have gone to bed decently, but some nights Elam is a hold out and one of those nights he fell asleep on the couch waiting for me to finish tucking the girls in.  Sadie kept him company while he slept!

 And later Tobi took a shift protecting him!

The critters seem to have stolen the stage this week...  Barb has been caught snuggling with each of the other animals at various times throughout the week.

Saturday night, Tobi upped his game by hiding in the upstairs bathroom shelf, a place we have never seen him before!  Not sure how he fit in there, but he was happily purring away when we found him.

The weather took a turn as the week progressed, and what was beautiful and warm at the start of the week became rainy and frigid by week's end.  Friday night, we covered garden plants to protect them from the deep freeze with temperatures dropping to the low 20's on Friday night!

Saturday morning was a scramble of driving all across Allegan County and into Kent to deliver goodies to each of the mamas in my MOPS group in preparation for our final meeting, to happen virtually of course.  With the governor extending the stay-home order through May 28th (was most recently set to expire May 15), all hope of any in-person meetings is gone, though it is doubtful we would have anyway.  So, we are making the best of it!  This meant traveling to many homes to drop off packages on front steps.  We also added to those stops the homes of the individuals who helped provide childcare over the past MOPS year, giving them a gift basket and flower to say thank you.  We added in the stop for our produce boxes and ended our morning with 3 hours of driving and countless miles traveled.  However, we listened to 4 Adventures in Odyssey while we rode and sang along to many Newsboys songs to pass the time.

Sunday was Mother's Day.  It was pretty cold and rainy most of the day, but my little angels did their best to brighten the day with their sweet gifts and attention.

We are all growing weary of goofy weather keeping us inside and pandemics keeping us away from friends and family...  but we are healthy and together!
