2023 has come, and several weeks have already passed. In those weeks, life has been much quieter (thankfully). Just after Christmas, the kids counted up all of the money they had saved between can collecting and money they earned, to find they had a little more than $135! With a surprise match from Daddy and Mommy, they flipped through the World Vision catalog, carefully discussing what they might use their money for. In the end, they landed on a a donation of a goat, a sheep and two chickens. They have already set their sights for a bigger amount next year to be put toward a larger farm animal!
For a little fun, we got in some skating at the turn of the new year...
Winter seems to have gone with Christmas, as just after the blizzard the snow began to melt away and January has been very blah with mostly grey skies, rain and bare ground. The grass is even green and we have noted a few tree branches with baby buds. It is an extremely rare day to have more than a few moments of sun, if any at all.
Inside, since it's not much fun outside when it is just cold, blah and not much to do, especially when wet, we have been doing some puzzles, playing some games, watching more movies and letting the pets entertain us.
This past Sunday evening, we were invited to attend the awards ceremony for Lakeshore Roller Derby. We weren't able to make it work for everyone due to some last minute notice and youth group and such, so I went to represent our crew and accept an award for being the team photographer. I also brought some awards home for the rest of my crew.
Alext recevied the #1 Fan award and a special pair of Lakshore boxer shorts!
The kids all received the Best Support Staff award for their help at all of the home bouts with the merchandise table.
