Summer Fun

Weather back at home is much hotter than it was while we were on vacation.  with the week heating up quickly and staying very hot, we decided Monday morning that we had better go pick blueberries while it was still comfortable and get the nice big ones while they were available.  So, the girls and I headed off to Beard's to pick for a couple of hours in the morning, putting off our unpacking and post-vacation clean up a bit longer.  The girls were big helpers and, though Alora and Tierney ate more than they picked for me to take home, we ended up with over 30 pounds of berries when we were done.

Tuesday, the girls and I drove to Grand Rapids to meet with my midwife, Yolanda, for our first official visit.  At 13 weeks, we got to hear the baby's heart beat for the first time and it was pretty exciting!
Most of our week was spent at Aunt Nancy's pool with our friends.  It was just too hot with days in the 90's and humidity above that.  The pool got increasingly warmer as the week went on.  From Tuesday afternoon on, we were there every day and many evenings with Kathy, Travis and Emmett with us as well.  The dads joined us evenings to cool down as well.

Thursday, Becci joined us in the afternoon and the kids enjoyed having another adult to pull them around the pool and splash with for a while.

The kids love jumping into the pool, probably spending half of their time doing so.  

As this week has progressed the girls have become more skilled.  Ezri started the week refusing to attempt to swim across the length of the pool with out any flotation, as she could already do the width of the pool.  Wednesday, she decided to go for it and since then has been swimming all over that pool without any hesitation.

Alora has been very brave about swimming with her face in the water and toward the end of the week even tried swimming without any flotation as well.  

Tierney stepped it up by jumping into the pool with her sisters and Daddy where she would before only stand at the edge and tip into someone's hands.  She still prefers to get in and play for a short while before wanting to get out and warm up.  She spends a lot of time going in and out of the pool.  She also fell asleep at the pool several evenings while the rest of the family played into later hours.

 

When we were home, we shared meals together, enjoyed some ice cream...

and played inside.  Tierney decided this week that she was a baby and should climb into her baby doll crib!

 Saturday morning, the girls and I went to the library for a short time for the Summer Reading Program party.  The girls had brought in their reading slips a few days prior and been able to choose two prizes to put their names in for.  Ezri was extra hopeful to win a remote control helicopter.  The first thing they did when we got to the library was check if they won any prizes - all three girls did!  Ezri was thrilled to find she had won the helicopter!!!  She also got a basket of goodies, Alora got a stuffed puppy, and Tierney won a K'nex set and basket of goodies as well.  We decided everyone would share the winnings, but they sure were pleased little girls!
