We are coming off a busy weekend and are on the eve of even more chaos! June has come to an end and July is now upon us.
This past week, we had some "normal life" early on. Ezri, sweet big sister that she is, made Elam a hat!
We completed the mud house by installing a sink I picked up at a garage sale.
Ezri had a Small Livestock meeting for 4H where she began the summer long journey of practicing her showing with Barb in preparation for the fair.
Elam jumped, and jumped, and jumped... and then jumped himself asleep.
The kids played in the rain on the trampoline one afternoon.
Tierney decorated herself with a marker.
Saturday we spent the morning finishing up some work. While the girls were out playing, a dog ran through our yard. After some time I was able to convince it to come to me when it entered our neighbor's yard to see his dog. We chained the dog up as I knew fireworks would be happening all weekend and would hate to have my dog lost. The girls enjoyed playing with him, as he was very sweet and friendly. Thankfully, a few hours later, his owner did show up and the dog was happy to be going home
Saturday afternoon, we headed to Sandy Pines for a day of relaxing before our busy weekend. The kids had a great time at the treasure hunt.
Ezri and Tierney each found a special coin on their hunt and got to choose a prize!
Then, Kathy and I took the kids to the splash pad, where they enjoyed running through the water for quite a long time, even though it was ice cold!
A little sun bathing mixed in helped keep them warm enough.
While we packed up the kids, the guys started a fire so we could enjoy dinner together.
More time playing and enjoying one another's company and then it was dark. We all loaded up in the golf carts and headed to the lake to watch the fireworks. It was quite a display!
Sunday morning started bright and early for us. We had to help gather supplies and set up for our annual service in the park followed by the car show. Our family along with the Sebrights, Jay & Becci spent a long day at the park together. We began with the church service. While Mommy sang, Daddy ran sound,
the girls sat with Grandpa and Grandma.
and Elam napped in the shade.
We got to hear our new pastor speak for the first time, as it was his first Sunday. We are very excited to have Pastor Kevin with us and are looking forward to getting to know him. Following the service, we found some lunch and then checked out the cars. Grandpa drove his Model T and had it displayed at the show, so it was exciting to see his car among all of the others.
Once again, Kritex sponsored a plaque for the car show.
While the car show went on and votes were tallied, the kids were geared up to help hand out awards and were antsy. The stage offered them some entertainment as they waited.
And then it was finally time to hand out awards!
Each of the kids got to hand out an award and shake the hands of the winners.
Tierney handed out the award for our business.
It was extra exciting when Grandpa won Best In Show for his car!!! He was quite surprised and it was a lot of fun to watch him accepting a well earned award for all of his hard work and time spent rebuilding the car.
Once the car show wrapped up, it was up to us to pack up the stage and equipment to be returned to the church. While the clean up was happening, this Mommy gathered up the kids and played silly games to keep them from going crazy. It was super fun for them to be ducklings and follow me around in a line, especially when we would sneak attack various members of our crew unannounced!
Even more fun when they turned on me!
We are all quite tired and ready for a break. A few more days to go...
