Fun and Adventures

Greetings from the ranch!  We were able to spend a little more time at home this week, but found plenty of opportunity for adventure.

Saturday, we spent the day with Mike, Kerri, Aubrey and Wesley.  Alex and Mike were working on a project for Kritex, so the girls were able to get in a lot of play time and Ezri really enjoyed herself.  A new place, new toys, a baby... it was fun.  And the best part.. Aubrey has a Power Wheels Jeep that she took Ezri for a ride in.  Ezri was really enjoying herself as Aubrey cruised around the yard, just dodging vehicles and trees as she zipped back and forth.  It was quite fun to watch!

Sunday we relaxed at home and Ezri got to spend some time with her favorite Uncle Andy.  We went for a walk and Ezri spend the day playing.  She got a foam alphabet play mat/puzzle from Andy and was having a blast playing with that.  At bedtime, the last thing she wanted to do was go to bed. We had a bit of a struggle as Ezri spent the next 45 minutes after we put her down crying and asking for Andy.  While it wasn't so cute at the time because we just needed her to sleep, it was pretty cute that she knew he was still here and wanted to be playing with him :)

Monday evening, Ezri put that play mat to good use with Grandpa and Grandma, who came to visit for a while.  I suspect poor Grandpa's arms were tired the next day after all the work!

 As the weather has cooled considerably this week, We have enjoyed many nice days outside playing, but with jackets on.  While I am ready for the fall, I'm not quite so ready for the cold.  It is pleasant to be able to have the windows all opened up most days now as it is pleasant enough to not need air or heat just yet.  Trying to get as much fresh air flowing through while we still can!

Breakfasts have become interesting this week.  Suddenly, Ezri is more interested in playing with the cereal and drinking the milk from the bowl by herself than actually eating the cereal.  I find her pulling the Cheerios out by the spoonful and piling them up to the side so she can scoop out the milk or drink it right from the bowl.

One exciting things for Ezri this week was finding the "bug" on Thursday night while Daddy was working on fixing Aunt Becky's scooter.  While we were out looking for more of the plastic bb's in the yard for Ezri's collection, we came across a while caterpillar.  Ezri was very intrigued, wanting me to pick it up but not quite willing to touch it herself.  I am trying to teach her not to be afraid of bugs and such by being brave myself (no I'm not really afraid of caterpillars - but I know the time will come when she wants to see other creepy crawlies).  So, we coaxed the caterpillar onto a stick and then Ezri was more than willing to take it and show Daddy.

 She was quite proud of that "bug" after that, carrying the stick all around the yard with the poor caterpillar hanging on for dear life. 

 When it was time to go in for the night and get ready for bed, Ezri was not happy to put him down and I had to return him to the flower bed several times before I captured her and convinced her it was time for the bug to go to sleep as well.  Even after we came in for the night, she continued to talk about that bug!

We are all healthy and well here on the ranch, Fig included.  We go back to the doctor next week to again hear a heartbeat and make sure things are on track.  23 weeks (24 tomorrow)!
