This winter has been a little disapointing for the kids when it comes to snow sticking around. We have a had a couple of big snow storms with deep snow, but it melts away and we start over again. Barney attempted a hill around Christmas, but since then there hasnt been much reason or depth to add to it. Because of this, the kids were anxious for a place to go sledding before the snow melts away again. Last week, we went to Uncle Ryan and Aunt Nancy's to use their small hill and some piles plowed up along the driveway. This kept them happy, along with some great pine trees for buidling forts under, for a couple of hours!
When they got cold, they found their way into Uncle Ryan's barn and were pleased to discover his slot car track! They each got opportunity to race some cars and had such fun!
Elam especially loved the racing, he was at it for quite a long time, wanting to challenge Uncle Ryan and was so sad when we had to leave. It was all he talked about for days after!
Friday evening, we celebrated Alora and Elam's birthday with our friends. This required special cakes, of course!
And gifts!
Saturday, there were the usual shenanigans around home.
Saturday evening, we headed to Kathy's house for a night of food and fun. This was the night of the annual Lions Club dinner and dance fundraiser that we have attended for quite a few years. This year, like last, we were able to get some food from the dinner and enjoy it at Kathy's and then, after some emotional sharing of chocolate, we set our minds on a murder mystery for a few hours while the kids watched a movie and played together. It was such a fun night for all of us!
Sunday morning, Elam wore his new t-rex bowtie he got from Travis & Emmett, and Daddy wore his matching bowtie they also gave him!
Sunday afternoon, with a warm up for the foreseeable future forecast, the kids set their minds to building snowmen for Pamaw and Danny as well as our neighbors Dave & Charlotte.
